Flash Web Design
I would like to be able to design "feature-rich" Web content, but acquiring the necessary tools is the essential first step. Adobe's Flash CS4 is rather expensive. A less expensive commercial application, Swish, has also come to my attention. There is also the open-source FlashDevelop for Windows, which is free.

An intriguing possibility is to use Linux as a platform for this purpose. An open-source plugin for the Eclipse IDE is supposed to provide this capability. I'll try it on Sunday, after I get home and have a computer running Linux at my disposal.

Blogging with a Cell Phone
There may be times when one wants to compose blog entries, although not even a netbook is available for the purpose. For this reason, provision is made to accept messages even from cell phones for this purpose, so long as the unit is capable of sending such messages.

The weather is nice today. Despite the fact that it was expected to be rainy all week, it hasn't been.

Recent Events
Mood:  happy

When I donated blood at the Red Cross last Tuesday, the hemoglobin level was spuriously low. This was because finger-stick readings can dilute the blood with interstitial fluids, and this is the method of collection they use. A blood test yesterday involving venous blood produced the higher reading to which I am accustomed.

The Obama Administration today refused to depart from the previous Administration's position on land mines--that is, Obama won't ratify a treaty to prohibit them. I found this disappointing, and perhaps an indication that similar policies would be pursued in the future.

At the Library
Mood:  a-ok
I'm adding a second entry to this blog to see what happens. I mean, how it is displayed. My time here is somewhat limited, so I think I'll just perform this experiment and see what happens.

My First Entry
Mood:  caffeinated

For some time I had wondered what distinguished blogs from Websites, and I wondered whether I should have a blog. Eventually I concluded that this was one of those experiences that all technically-inclined people (and many others) should have, and since my Website was already hosted by Tripod, at http://analytic.tripod.com, I decided that my first blog might as well be hosted there, too. I'm not sure this will have a time stamp, so I'll mention that this is Nov. 16, 2009.
